Islamic Boarding Schools and Financial Literacy Build the Thrifty Character of Students

Abstract

The community service program entitled “Building a Thrifty Character among Students” was conducted at Pondok Pesantren Nurul Ihsan to instill simple financial literacy and saving habits. Activities included lectures, group discussions, simulations, and daily financial recording practices to help students distinguish needs from wants, manage allowances, and practice a modest lifestyle in line with Islamic values. The results showed increased awareness in managing money wisely, such as recording expenses, reducing unnecessary spending, and starting to save. The program is expected to foster long-term independence, discipline, responsibility, and social awareness among students
