Abstract
This study investigates the influence of entrepreneurial orientation and information technology (IT) capability on the competitive advantage of culinary micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Medan Maimun District, Indonesia. Using a quantitative descriptive approach, the study surveyed 142 respondents from a population of 221 culinary MSMEs, with the sample determined through the Slovin formula. The data were analyzed using multiple linear regression techniques. The findings reveal that both entrepreneurial orientation and IT capability have a positive and significant effect on competitive advantage, both individually and jointly. The regression model accounts for 52.4% of the variance in competitive advantage. These results highlight the strategic importance of enhancing entrepreneurial traits—such as innovation, risk-taking, and proactivity—alongside the development of IT capabilities to maintain competitiveness in a digitally driven market. The study underscores the need for MSMEs to adopt digital tools and strengthen entrepreneurial behavior as a means of achieving sustained growth in the culinary sector.
